Mindfulness

I have practised meditation for 35 years and have experience of silent retreats, as well as classes and workshops in mindfulness, yoga, tai chi, qigong and kung fu.

When I was a primary school teacher I created a meditation garden for the children and introduced them to meditation and stilling. I believe that periods of silence, stillness and reflection are essential for well-being and learning. I incorporate my experience into P4C and Values-based work in schools.

Dongche studentsBetween 2001-3 I taught in Tibetan schools in Qinghai; as a volunteer for the ROKPA charity then as an employee of ASIA-Onlus . I taught English to Tibetan children and also trained Tibetan teachers in English and pedagogy.

Also central to my sense of well being is my love of animals, particularly horses, being in the countryside, walking and running.
